Ingredient Find & Replace enables bulk updates of an ingredient across multiple recipes.

1. To access the Ingredient Find & Replace from any screen: Go to Recipes → Recipes → Ingredient Find and Replace. 

The Recipe Module submenus: Manage Recipes, Recipe Inquiries, and Ingredient Find and Replace - each include search criteria options for recipes and ingredients.

Both criteria feature a dropdown menu that lets users search for recipes and ingredients by item number, starts with, contains, and equals.

• Users can search by recipe or ingredient using several different fields. Once the desired search criteria has been entered, click on the “Search” button in the top right corner of the search field or simply hit the “Enter” key on the keyboard.

The fields with browse icons provide users with a pop-up window that allows them to search for and select specific information.

To update ingredients in bulk, use the middle Ingredient area field to search for and select the item you wish to replace, enter the new ingredient information, and click the “Replace” button.

Ingredient - Use the browse icon to search and select the new item you want to use as the replacement.

Quantity - Entering a quantity in this field will update the quantity of all selected items to the amount specified.

Unit - Use the dropdown menu to select a unit when adding a quantity, which will update all selected items to the specified quantity and unit.

Yield - Enter a yield for the ingredient if applicable. 

Ratio - Enter a ratio for the ingredient if the unit conversion is not already available in the system.

Conversion - Select the conversion unit from the dropdown menu if you need to add a ratio.

Replace - By selecting "Replace," you can make bulk updates using the changes entered in the fields.

Advanced - If you wish to make line-by-line changes to the selected records, click the button labeled "Advanced."

Nutrition - Select an item from the search results, then click “Nutrition” to add or edit the nutritional information for the chosen item.

Searching by recipe enables users to view all the ingredients within that particular recipe.

Steps for Finding and Replacing an Ingredient by Recipe

1. Search for the recipe using the Recipe Criteria. All ingredients associated with that recipe will be displayed below. 

• The example below shows a recipe criteria search containing tomatoes. The results display all recipes along with their ingredients, allowing you to identify which ingredients need to be replaced.

2. Next, locate the original ingredient you wish to replace in the recipe(s) and select it. 

• In the example, we are replacing the current TOMATO 5X6 2 LAYER with a new product. 

3. In the Ingredient Field Area, click the ingredient browse icon, where the item search pop-up window will appear. 

4. Search and select the new item you want to use as the replacement. 

5. Back in the Ingredient search page, select Replace on the ingredient field area. 

6. A pop-up notification will appear asking if you are sure you want to apply the changes to ALL checked ingredients, select OK. 

7. A successful notification will be displayed, click OK. You'll notice that the original ingredient has been replaced with the new item. 

• The example shows that all selected TOMATO 5X6 2 LAYER have now been replaced with item TOMATO BEEF STEAK 4X5.

Searching by ingredient lets users view all the recipes associated with that ingredient.

Steps for Finding and Replacing an Ingredient by Ingredient

1. Search for the ingredient using the Ingredient Criteria. All recipes associated with that ingredient will be displayed below. 

• The example below shows a ingredient criteria search containing lemon. The results display all recipes containing lemon, allowing you to identify which ingredients need to be replaced.

2. Next, locate the original ingredient you wish to replace in the recipe(s) and select it. 

• In the example, we are replacing the current JUICE LEMON (FG3600046 & FG3600021) with a new product. 

3. In the Ingredient Field Area, click the ingredient browse icon, where the item search pop-up window will appear. 

4. Search and select the new item you want to use as the replacement. 

5. Back in the Ingredient search page, select Replace on the ingredient field area. 

6. A pop-up notification will appear asking if you are sure you want to apply the changes to ALL checked ingredients, select OK. 

7. A successful notification will be displayed, click OK. You'll notice that the original ingredient has been replaced with the new item. 

• The example shows that all selected JUICE LEMON (FG3600046 & FG3600021) have now been replaced with item FG3800004 - JUICE LEMON FRESH GALLON.
