Navigating to R&D Recipes
R&D Recipes enable users to test recipes in the research and development area.
1. To access the R&D Recipes from any screen: Go to Recipes → R&D Recipes

Understanding the View R&D Recipes Page
The View R&D Recipes page is divided into two sections: R&D Recipes List and R&D Recipe Details.
R&D Recipe List
The R&D Recipe List displays previously tested recipes, along with options to add a new recipe for testing or delete an existing recipe from the test site.
Adding a Recipe to Test
R&D Recipe List: Add
To add a recipe for testing, click the "Add" button in the R&D Recipe List section. You'll see that the Recipe Detail side displays blank fields ready to be entered.
Deleting a R&D Tested Recipe
R&D Recipe List: Delete
R&D tested recipes can be found on the R&D Recipe List. If users wish to delete any tested recipes, they can follow the steps below; however, deleting unwanted recipes is not mandatory.
Steps for Deleting R&D Recipes
1. Select the recipe you wish to delete; the recipe information will appear in the R&D Recipe Details section. Then, click "Delete."
2. A confirmation pop-up will appear, select yes.
3. A success notification will confirm that the recipe has been deleted.
R&D Recipe - Creating a New Recipe
R&D Recipe Detail: Creating a New Recipe to Test
Use this method to create a new recipe for testing that is not already in the system.
R&D Recipe Detail: Fill in the Fields
Fill in the required fields: Recipe Name, Unit, and Yield. You also have the option to add a Sales Price if you want to calculate the COS%. Then, click "UPDATE" to create the recipe.
- Keep in mind that all cost fields will show as 0, since there are no ingredients added to the recipe yet.
R&D Recipe Detail: Add the Ingredients
Click "Add Item Look Up" to include items in your recipe. You can either double-click each item or select an item and then click "Edit" to adjust the quantity.
Creating a New Ingredient
If an item is not in the system, you can create a new ingredient by clicking the Create New Ingredient button. An Ingredient Editor window will appear. Fill out the blank information then click save.
- The item cost must reflect the quantity and unit added.
- In the video example 1 lb of Herb Parsley Curly is $3.50, if the quantity is adjusted to 1 oz, the item cost must also be adjusted to reflect the cost of the unit ($0.22/oz).
If a recipe has a newly created ingredient, you will not be able to promote it since the item is only available on the R&D test site.
Edit & Delete
Edit - Click on an ingredient, then select "Edit" to modify any of the item's information.
Delete - Click on an ingredient, then select "Delete" to remove it from the recipe.
R&D Recipe Detail: Updates & Recipe Cost/Graph
After the items have been added, ingredient quantities and units adjusted, and the recipe updated, the recipe cost will appear in the Recipe Details. You'll also see a color-coordinated graph that displays the ingredient amounts in relation to the recipe.
R&D Recipe Detail: View/Edit
The recipe will be listed on R&D Recipe List, allowing you to view and adjust it as needed.
R&D Recipe Detail: Promoting a New R&D Recipe
Steps for Promoting the Recipe
1. To promote the recipe to the recipe module, select Promote.
2. A commodity pop-up screen will appear, click on the browse icon to select the 4 character commodity for the recipe.

3. The system will take you into the Recipe Details within the Recipe Module, select update to save the recipe.
R&D Recipe - Exporting a Recipe
Exporting a Recipe
Recipes in the Manage Recipes section of the Recipe Module can be exported to R&D Recipes for testing.
Navigate to Recipes →Recipes→Manage Recipes, search and double-click the recipe.
In the Recipe Details, select Export to Test.
Adjust the Recipe
Within the test site, you have multiple adjustment options.
For the Recipe Header, you can adjust the unit and yield.
For the Ingredient section, you have the option to add/remove item, adjust ingredient quantity or unit, create a new ingredient to add to the recipe.
- If a recipe has a newly created ingredient, you will not be able to promote it since the item is only available on the R&D test site.
Promoting the Existing Recipe
The recipe will be listed on the R&D Recipe List, allowing you to view and adjust it as needed.
You also have the option to promote the recipe by selecting "Promote." A pop-up will appear, providing you with two options.
Option 1: Create a New recipe. (Keeps the original recipe)
Option 2: Overwrite the existing recipe with the changes you have made.
The system will take you into the Recipe Details within the Recipe Module.
