Item Editor: Understanding the Retail Tab

The Retail tab offers detailed metrics and performance insights for retail items. This includes information on retail classifications, financial metrics, pricing basis, and related retail items.

Item Header

The item header appears when you access the inventory tab. To make any modifications, return to the profile tab, click the (+) icon to expand the item header, modify the necessary fields, and then select "Save."

Retail Classifications

The Retail Classification fields are optional to enter however the user has the ability to enter additional information pertaining to the product. The following fields are displayed in the Retail Classifications:

Color: Select a color from the dropdown menu if applicable to the item. 

  • If the color option isn't available, log into SAMMS →Administration→Items→Retail→Colors→NEW

Size: Select a size from the dropdown menu if applicable to the item. 

  • If the color option isn't available, log into SAMMS →Administration→Items→Retail→Sizes→NEW

Style: Select a style from the dropdown menu if applicable to the item. 

  • If the color option isn't available, log into SAMMS →Administration→Items→Retail→Styles→NEW

Brand: Select a brand from the dropdown menu if applicable to the item. 

  • If the brand option is not available, please inform your project manager so the information can be added to the backend.

Collection: Select a collection from the dropdown menu if applicable to the item. 

  • If the collection option is not available, please inform your project manager so the information can be added to the backend.

Season: Select a season from the dropdown menu if applicable to the item. 

  • If a season option is not available, please inform your project manager so the information can be added to the backend.

Manufacturer SKU: Use the manufacturer SKU field to enter the unique identifier assigned by the manufacturer for that particular product.

 
 

Retail Price Basis

Retail Price Basis

The Retail Price Basis fields are optional and not automatically calculated. They offer retail users a basic reference for expected item prices. This section is mainly for price adjustments, providing users with a benchmark to refer to. The following fields are displayed in the Retail Price Basis:

Retail Unit: Select a unit from the dropdown menu; the available units are sourced from the Unit Setup in the Profile section.

Base Cost: Enter the base cost associated with the purchased the item. 

Base Price:  Enter the initial selling price of the product at which it will be sold to the customer. 

MSRP: Enter the recommended price the manufacturer suggested for the retail charge of the product. 

Recommended Margin %: Enter the suggested profit margin recommended by the business or manufacturer for setting the retail price of the product. This margin is expressed as a percentage of the product's selling price and helps determine the ideal profit level for the product.

Recommend Markup %: Enter the suggested percentage increase that will be applied to the base cost of the product to determine its base price. The recommended markup percentage helps businesses set prices that cover costs and achieve profit goals while maintaining competitiveness in the market.

 

 
 

Insights

Filter by Data Type

Use the Data Type dropdown to filter by Top Selling Outlet. Use the Apply Filter feature to apply the filters selected.

 
 

Filter by Period

Use the Period Filter dropdown to filter by This Week, This Month, This Quarter, Last 7 Days, Last 30 Days, Last 60 Days, Last 90 Days, or Last 365 Days. Use the Apply Filter feature to apply the filters selected.

 
 

Filter by Details

Use the Details filter dropdown to filter by Summary, By Day, By Week or By Month. Use the Apply Filter feature to apply the filters selected.

 
 

Graph Filters

After clicking the "Apply Filter" button, the graph will show the top 5 selling outlets in a circle graph, with all other outlets grouped under "Other."

 
 

Toggle Chart

Users have the option to select "Toggle Chart" to remove the graph and display only the chart information.

 
 

Details

The Insights information bar includes:

  • Department
  • Sales Period
  • Average Sale Price
  • Quantity Sold
  • Revenue
  • COGS
  • Gross Profit 
  • Gross Profit Margin

NOTE: Insights data will appear once sales information for the item becomes available.

 
 

Filter by Related Items

Use the Related Items filter dropdown to filter by Color, Style, Brand, Collection, Commodity, Manufacturer SKU, Parent Commodity, Root Commodity.

NOTE: Data will be organized according to the filter applied, which pertains to the retail item.

 
 

Details

The Related Retail Items information bar includes:

  • Item #
  • Description
  • Color
  • Size
  • Style
  • Brand
  • Collection
  • Season
  • Manufacturer SKU

NOTE: When the filter "Style" is applied, you'll see that the style column displays all items classified as "Yeti" style.
