The Assign Variance action is available when a variance is in the Variance Detected status. You can access this action from the Variance Scoreboard or directly within the Paysheet Document tab. This allows you to assign the variance to a participant for reconciliation.
Assign Variance Action

Reviewing the Assign Variance Dialog
Below is an overview of the dialog:
-
Assign To (Required)
You can either type a participant's name or use the dropdown to select one.- The dropdown also displays the number of tasks currently assigned to each participant.
-
Variance
If only one type of variance is triggered on an invoice, the variance field will automatically display that specific type.- However, if multiple variance types are triggered, the field will default to All Variances.
- In this case, users can use the dropdown to select one or more specific variance types they want to assign - it doesn’t have to be all of them.
-
Comments (Optional)
Add any relevant notes. These will be stored in the Paysheet Work History scoreboard for reference.

Steps to Assign a Variance
Steps to Assign a Variance
- Click the Assign Variance action.
- In the Assign To field, select the participant who will reconcile the variance.
- Choose the variance type(s) the participant should reconcile.
- Click Assign to complete the process.
Assigning One out of Multiple Variance Type
If an invoice has multiple variance types (Quantity and Price), you don’t have to assign all at once, you can assign just one.
Example:
If the invoice has Quantity and Price variances, and you choose to assign only Quantity:
- The system will split the variances into two separate line items:
- Quantity will move to the Reconciler Assigned status.
- Price will remain in the Variance Detected status.
- This makes it clear which variance type is actively being worked on and which still needs to be assigned.
You can assign the remaining variance types separately, either to the same participant or different ones as needed.
Only the selected variance type will be assigned to the participant.
